Short Journey to Bangkok, Thailand (Day 1)

First of aaaaalll matters, I'd like to thank Ko Felix for picking me as one of the winner of #EPILOGUEinBKK and I won flight ticket + concert ticket for BTS in Bangkok, August 6 2016.

Here I want to share to you my trip, how much it cost and where am I going in 4 days 3 nights (5-8 August 2016).

We as Indonesian and part of ASEAN, we don't nit VISA to enter Thailand. We're VISA free for 1 months, counted since the first day we put our feet in Thailand. For low cost, usually it'll depart/arrive at Don Mueang International Airport. Lemme describe in detail for each day:

Day 1
We're all have to queue almost 1 hour in immigration. It's crazy. Idk why it took them a long time since I barely have 2 minutes processing the immigration file. After we passed the immigration, we're seeking for a local sim card. It's very easy to find the store. There're 3 providers with similar price+feature, TrueMove, AIS, and Dtac. We bought the 299 Baht sim card with 7 days use, 1,5 GB internet, 100 Baht for calls + SMS. We originally want TrueMove but we did not know they inserted Dtac to our phone wth. They said "Dtac have cheaper price to call to Indonesia". Hello? We need stable internet connection not cheaper call/sms price.

After we bought it and they activated it, we're totally lost. We don't really know how to get to the central district. We tried to catch taxi at gate 8 but the queue is damn long. Another taxi provider cost higher than usual so I ask the information service for buses. Oh, it's lot cheaper!

How to take bus to nearest BTS (Bangkok Skytrain/MRT/Railway Station)?

  1. Once you exit the arrival hall, go to gate/exit 6. You'll find an information about the bus route.
  2. Take A1 bus to go to Mo Chit BTS.
  3. A2 bus basically have the same route but longer. It took us to Victory Monument BTS.

I took A1 bus to Mo Chit. It took 30 Baht. The buses might be an old bus but the AC is still working properly and quite comfortable.

After we arrived at Mo Chit, we just follow people walking till we found Mo Chit BTS sign. We want to go to Chit Lom for a dinner. We just found out that to purchase the ticket we must use coins. They have exchange locket for us to change the money to coins. They only accept 3 coins, 1, 5, and 10 Baht. Each destination have their own fare. For me, from Mo Chit - Chit Lom cost 42 Baht.

This is how the ticketing machine looks like. Cr to the owner as on pict.

This is the fare that you must buy. To buy, just press on the button with the same fare as your destination. Cr to the owner: http://www.notyourtypicaltourist.com/
We originally want to go to Platinum but it's closed :( so we go inside Central World to grab something to eat. It's actually a big and great mall with huge food court lmao. As we walk thru and saw the prices, it's all pretty cheap /me love/. We decided to eat at Omu a Japanese Omurice restaurant. The interior is so comfy and the foods ARE YUM SUPER YUM. I order Hayashi Sauce Omurice with set of soup and soft drinks cost 230 Baht. But since we're tourist, they gave us 15% discount! Just show your passport and you're all set. If you want to know their menu, refer to this link : OMU MENU

To be honest, I did not expect Bangkok has such a beautiful mall.... They even got pretty decorations for the Queen (I also did not know they have Queen!). Seems it's near the Queen's birthday so they got lot of decorations with flower around Bangkok.

For the hostel we spent the night will be posted separately!
